Morgan City – On May 30, 2026, Detectives assigned to the Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division (CID) were requested by the Morgan City Police Department (MCPD) to investigate an in-custody death. The preliminary investigation revealed that 43-year-old Hilton John Hebert III experienced a medical emergency while in custody at the Morgan City Police Department. Officers and emergency medical personnel responded and initiated life-saving measures. Despite those efforts, Hebert was later pronounced deceased by the St. Mary Parish Coroner's Office. The investigation remains active, and no further information is available at this time. Anyone with information and/or pictures and video is urged to share that information with LSP Detectives.
