TROOP A NEWS RELEASE Motorcyclist Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash in Ascension Parish The preliminary investigation revealed that Dunaway was traveling north on LA 44 on a 2024 Suzuki motorcycle. At the same time, a 2024 GMC Sierra had just turned right from Lee Drive onto LA 44 northbound. For reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle struck the rear of the Sierra. Dunaway sustained serious injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. He was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the crash. The driver of the GMC was properly restrained and was uninjured. Impairment is unknown; however, routine toxicology samples were collected for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued, or distracted; follow all traffic laws, and always ensure every occupant is properly restrained. Additionally, when riding motorcycles, utilizing proper safety equipment, such as DOT-approved helmets, can decrease the chances of traumatic brain injury.
