2102 2025-11-05 Troop D Texas Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash in Calcasieu Parish

West Lake – On November 5, 2025, shortly after 2:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D were notified of a single-vehicle fatality crash on Louisiana Highway 108 near Ron Hall Drive in Calcasieu Parish. The crash claimed the life of 33-year-old John Acosta of Navasota, Texas.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2025 GMC Denali pickup, driven by Acosta, was traveling south on LA Highway 108. For reasons still under investigation, the GMC failed to negotiate a curve before traveling off the roadway and striking multiple objects.

Despite being properly restrained, Acosta sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. A routine toxicology sample was submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued, or distracted; and follow all traffic laws. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.
