Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Arrested for Illicit Acts Involving a Juvenile

Concordia Parish – In August 2024, the Louisiana State Police Special Victim’s Unit (LSP SVU) was contacted by the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) to conduct an investigation concerning illicit acts involving a 15-year-old juvenile and a CPSO Deputy.  The allegations were inappropriate contact between the CPSO Deputy and a juvenile prisoner while in transit to a juvenile facility.

On August 30, 2024, LSP SVU conducted interviews and identified the suspect as 27-year-old Javontrics Murphy of Natchez, MS.  As a result of the investigation and information obtained, arrest warrants were acquired for Murphy.  The arrest warrants were issued for first-degree rape (3 counts), malfeasance in office (4 counts), obstruction of justice, and simple battery.

On September 5, 2024, Murphy was arrested and booked into the CPSO Detention Center for the above charges.  The investigation remains active and ongoing.  No further information is available at this time.

LSP SVU works to rescue and seek justice for the victims of crimes involving the exploitation of children and the trafficking of humans for sex or labor.  The public plays an important role in identifying suspects accused of these crimes and is urged to report criminal or suspicious activity.  The Louisiana State Police online reporting system is available to the public through an anonymous reporting form that is submitted to the appropriate investigators.  The form can be found by visiting http://la-safe.org/and clicking on the “Suspicious Activity” link.
