Egan – On August 21, 2024, shortly before 6:00 a.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I responded to a single-vehicle crash on I-10 East near the Egan Exit. The crash claimed the life of 46-year-old Terrance Delahoussaye of New Iberia. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2021 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by Delahoussaye, was traveling eastbound on I-10. For reasons still under investigation, the Harley-Davidson traveled off the roadway to the left and struck a guardrail causing Delahoussaye to be ejected. Delahoussaye, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, received fatal injuries and died at the scene. Standard toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis. This crash is still under investigation. Troopers encourage all riders to take an approved motorcycle safety course.
