TROOP A NEWS RELEASE August 1, 2017 Baton Rouge Man Succumbs to Injuries after Crash Involving Dirt Bike and Ambulance Baton Rouge– At approximately 5:00 pm on July 30, 2017, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a fatal crash involving a dirt bike and an East Baton Rouge EMS ambulance on LA 426 west of Millerville Rd. in East Baton Rouge Parish. The crash took the life of 20 year old Jauuriah Solomon of Baton Rouge. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as East Baton Rouge EMS was responding to a call for service. The ambulance began making a left turn onto East Azalea Park Dr. from LA 426. At the same time, Solomon and 19 year old Deondre Northern were traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of LA 426 at a high rate of speed. As the ambulance was completing its turn, it was struck from behind by the dirt bike. Northern and Solomon were not wearing helmets and were both ejected from the dirt bike. Northern fled the scene and was later located by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office. Northern was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries. Solomon suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash but a toxicology sample was taken from both drivers for analysis.
