Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE State Police Continue Investigation Into Fatal Hit and Run BATON ROUGE - On September 22, 2008 at approximately 11:30 p.m., a vehicle was traveling south on Siegen Lane when it struck a pedestrian who was attempting to maneuver across the roadway. The victim, Patrick Thomas, bought food from the Burger King adjacent to the Race Trac gas station. As he attempted to cross Siegen Lane to Motel 6, he was struck and killed. The vehicle continued south on Siegen Lane, disregarding traffic signals, until it was out of the sight of the few witnesses that have come forward to this point. The vehicle in question is a mid to late 90’s model Crown Victoria or Mercury Grand Marquis. The vehicle is listed as tan in color; but could also be described as silver or light gray. Citizens should be on the look out for vehicles matching this description with front passenger side fender damage, headlight damage and a missing passenger side mirror. The driver could possibly have attempted to fix the vehicle, discard the vehicle, or hide the vehicle. After reviewing surveillance video from the Chevron located at Siegen and Reiger Rd., State Police Detectives saw numerous possible witnesses at the Race Trac and Chevron.
