Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A- NEWS RELEASE Mississippi Escapees Caught in Baton Rouge After Team Effort BATON ROUGE- Two fugitives from Lawrence County in Mississippi are now in State Police custody after detectives from multiple agencies teamed up to apprehend the pair. On August 24, 2008, David Sanchez and Aaron Smith escaped from Lawrence County Jail after overpowering a guard and then fleeing in a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was recovered earlier today by the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office on La Highway 1026 (Juban Road) near I-12. Louisiana State Police detectives, in conjunction with the US Marshal's Office Task Force, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, Baton Rouge City Police and Louisiana State Probation and Parole were able to follow several leads and locate the two inmates at an apartment complex off of Ned Drive in the Gardere Lane area. The two men were taken into custody without incident. Both will be booked into East Baton Rouge jail to await an extradition proceeding. For more information contact: Sgt.
