Pedestrian Struck on U.S. Hwy 190

PORT ALLEN- On September 11, 2008, at 10:20 p.m., State Police- Troop A investigated a fatal crash involving one vehicle and a pedestrian on U.S. Hwy 190 west of LA Hwy 415.

Harry Horne (W/M, age 57) was standing in the eastbound right lane of U.S. Hwy 190 when an eastbound 2006 Honda Odyssey approached him in the right lane. The Honda, driven by Ronald E. Hall (W/M, age 50), struck Horne while he was standing in the roadway. Horne was thrown over the top of the vehicle and came to rest in the roadway. Hall immediately pulled over to the shoulder to render aid and notify police. Horne was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries he sustained from the impact. Alcohol use on the part of Horne is suspected. Blood was taken from Horne and will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis. Results are still pending.

Hall voluntarily submitted to a chemical breath test and there was no detection of alcohol in his blood. No charges are being filed at this time.
