Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: September 13th, 2008 Single Vehicle Crash on LA 412 in East Feliciana Parish On Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 12:22 am Louisiana State Police, Troop A investigated a single vehicle fatal crash on LA 412 west of LA 957 in East Feliciana Parish. The crash involved a 1999 Chevrolet pick-up driven by Mr. Jamey P. Purpera (18 yrs), of Clinton, LA. The Chevrolet was traveling southbound on LA 67 at a high rate of speed at which time a Trooper patrolling LA 67 northbound observed and detected the vehicle with his radar unit. The Trooper then proceeded to turn around on LA 67 in an attempt to initiate a traffic stop. Once the Trooper completed the turn and proceeded southbound on LA 67, he observed the Chevrolet turning westbound onto LA 412 continuing at a high rate of speed. The Trooper then followed the vehicle, turning westbound on LA 412 at which time the vehicle continued over a hillcrest. As the Trooper topped the hill, he observed the vehicle exiting the roadway at a high rate of speed, after the driver apparently lost control. Once the vehicle left the roadway, it began to rollover ejecting the driver from the vehicle. As a result of the crash, the driver suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. Speed is considered a factor in the crash and the driver was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Driver impairment is suspected but not confirmed at this time.
