TROOP A NEWS RELEASE July 5, 2017 Paulina Man Dies in ATV Crash in St. James Parish Crash Paulina– Shortly after 8:00 pm on July 4, 2017, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a fatal crash involving an ATV on LA 642 west of LA 3125 in St. James Parish. The crash took the life of 35 year old Michael Mohon of Paulina. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Mohon was operating a 2014 Yamaha Viking in the travel lanes of LA 642. Mohon was ejected from the ATV when he lost control and it began to overturn in the roadway. Mohon sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash. He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. It is unknown if impairment was a factor in this crash but a toxicology sample was taken from Mohon for analysis.
