Three Critical Crashes on Sunday in Troop A

On Sunday at 7:16 p.m., State Police Troop A worked a motorcycle crash on LA 22 east of LA 16 in Livingston Parish. A 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound on LA 22 and failed to negotiate a left hand turn. The motorcycle left the roadway to the right and struck a telephone box and light pole. The driver was ejected from the motorcycle, which traveled 117 feet after impact. Martin Talley (33y/o W/M) of Franklinton was transported to North Oaks Hospital in Hammond where he was pronounced dead.

Also in Livingston on Sunday at 11:34 p.m., Troop A investigated a single vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on LA 64 west of LA. A 2002 Toyota Camry was traveling westbound on LA 64. Jimmy Beech (46y/o W/M) of Denham Springs was walking westbound on LA 64 west of LA 16 when he entered the roadway and was struck by the Toyota. Mr. Beech was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the Toyota will not be charged in this crash.

On Sunday at 9:37 p.m., Troop A also investigated a critical crash involving a motorcycle on I-10 W/O LA 415 near Milepost 151. A 1993 Honda Goldwing motorcycle was traveling eastbound on I-10 in the inside lane. Glend McDonald, Sr. (63y/o B/M) of Baton Rouge lost control of the motorcycle in the inside lane of travel. Mr. McDonald was ejected and suffered severe injuries. He was not wearing a DOT approved helmet at the time of the crash. Mr. McDonald was transported to Baton Rouge General Mid City in critical condition.


***UPDATE: At 4:55 p.m. on September 29, 2008, Glen McDonald, Sr. was pronounced dead by Baton Rouge General Mid-City Medical Center staff.
