Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A- NEWS RELEASE School Bus Involved in Three-Vehicle Crash PRAIRIEVILLE- On September 30, 2008 at 6:45 a.m., State Police Troop A was notified of a three-vehicle crash on LA Hwy 928 (Bluff Rd) involving a school bus. A white Chevrolet truck, driven by Jeffrey Seeger (W/M, age 17) was traveling southbound on Bluff Rd behind a school bus. Seeger began legally passing the school bus in a passing zone when a Ford Explorer, driven by Amanda Babin (W/F, age 22) entered the northbound lane of Bluff Rd. from a stop sign on Paille Dr. Seeger swerved to the right to avoid being struck by the Explorer and struck the front left corner of the bus with the right side of his truck. Babin also swerved her Explorer into the southbound lane and struck the Chevrolet truck in the left side. The resulting impact caused the Chevrolet truck to rotate and then exit the road to the right where it overturned and came to rest in nearby trees. The school bus was forced off the road to the left, striking multiple objects before coming to rest. Of the 41 children who were on the bus, fifteen children were transported from the scene with minor injuries. The driver of the bus, Barrylan Kelson (B/F, age 50) was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Explorer, Amanda Babin, was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign. Both Babin and Seeger were wearing their seatbelts and received only minor injuries. They both refused aid at the scene. For more information contact: Sgt. Markus L.
