Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A- NEWS RELEASE Houston Woman Faces Drug Charges BATON ROUGE- On Wednesday morning, October 1, 2008, at approximately 3:34 a.m., State Police Troop A arrested a Houston, TX woman for transporting illegal narcotics in her vehicle on Interstate 12. State Police arrested 22 year-old Prumdevi Hang (O/F- Houston, TX) after a trooper observed her commit a traffic violation while she was traveling eastbound on Interstate 12 in Livingston Parish. While speaking with the trooper, Hang gave conflicting stories about the vehicle and about where she was traveling. The trooper asked her for a voluntary consent to search the vehicle but she refused. A State Police K-9 unit arrived on scene and alerted on the vehicle, giving the troopers probable cause to conduct a search. The search revealed two plastic bags containing 6000 Xanax pills located in a suitcase in the trunk. The approximate street value of the narcotics is $60,000. Hang was placed under arrest for Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance with the Intent to Distribute. She was then booked into the Livingston Parish Jail.
