Passenger Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash

BATON ROUGE- On Sunday, October 5, 2008 at approximately 5:30 a.m., Louisiana State Police-Troop A responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 west of LA Hwy 641 in St. James Parish which resulted in the death of a Baton Rouge woman.

Teriyaki Conner (B/F, age 21 of Baton Rouge) was driving her 2000 Nissan Altima westbound on Interstate 10 when her vehicle exited the roadway to the left and entered the median while rotating counter-clockwise. Once in the median, the Nissan overturned and came to rest partially in the left eastbound travel lane and partially on the shoulder. Connor and her front seat passenger, Robin Palms (B/F, age 22 of Baton Rouge) were both wearing their seat belts and received minor to moderate injuries during the crash. Palms was transported to River Parishes Hospital. The left rear seat passenger, Jeda McGlothan (B/F, age 18 of Baton Rouge) was not wearing her seatbelt and sustained moderate injuries. Both Connor and McGlothan were transported to St. James Hospital. The right rear seat passenger, Sarita Hayes (B/F, age 26 of Baton Rouge) was not wearing her seatbelt was ejected from the vehicle during the crash, resulting in fatal injuries. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in this crash; however, blood was taken from the driver and will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis.
