Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest.
Sobriety Checkpoint Results


Last night, the City of Walker was the site for a joint sobriety checkpoint. Representatives from Louisiana State Police – Troop A, Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, Livingston and Walker City Police conducted the checkpoint on LA Hwy 447 south of US Hwy 190 in the parking lot of LeBlanc’s Grocery . The checkpoint was the first inside the city limits of Walker and is part of a sustained effort by troopers, deputies and officers to remove impaired drivers off the road.

Between 10:00 PM, Friday, July 11, 2008 and 3:00 AM, Saturday, July 12, 2008, there were 670 vehicles screened. Law enforcement officers administered 19 Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which resulted in 11 arrests for Driving While Intoxicated. Other arrests are as follows: 5 arrests for Possession of Marijuana, 5 arrests for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, 1 arrest for Possession of Cocaine, 1 arrest for Possession of Schedule II Narcotics and 1 arrest for Possession of Schedule IV Narcotics.

Troopers, deputies and officers also issued 11 citations for Open Container, 3 citations for Driver’s License Violations, 2 citations for Expired Inspection Sticker, 2 citations for Ignoring Traffic Controls and 1 citation for Vehicle Registration.
