Troop A to Host Health and Safety Fair
Louisiana State Police – Troop A, Academy Sports+Outdoors® and community partners are joining forces to host Troop A Day, on Saturday, July 19, 2008, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Troop A Day is a FREE health and safety fair designed to raise health and safety awareness throughout the Greater Baton Rouge area. The event will be held at 17801 Highland Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70810 (Troop A Headquarters).Participants will enjoy games, activities, informational booths and demonstrations from many agencies. This event is free to the community, and allows an opportunity for the public to meet and talk to different health and safety organizations.
Healthcare agencies will address health concerns by providing wellness checks (blood pressure, body mass index and weight), insurance information and the opportunity to give blood. Safety professionals will set up booths for safety issues such as child passenger safety, ATV safety, seat belt safety, fire safety, bicycle/helmet safety (free helmets for kids) and boating safety. Agencies will also display or demonstrate K-9 and motorcycle units, mobile police command post, Coast Guard and Wildlife and Fisheries boats, impaired driving demos (fatal vision goggles), bomb robot, traffic enforcement, helicopter, EMS units, Acadian Ambulance, disaster preparedness, SWAT demos and railroad safety.
Come out and meet athletes from LSU and Southern University. Giveaways, door prizes and refreshments will be available! There is nothing better than learning ways to be safe, while having fun!
