Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A- NEWS RELEASE Insurance Checkpoint Conducted In East Feliciana On Thursday, August 21, 2008, Louisiana State Police – Troop A conducted an insurance checkpoint on LA Hwy 10 at LA Hwy 19 in East Feliciana Parish. During the checkpoint, troopers issued a total of thirty-three citations. 16 drivers received a citation for not having proof of insurance, five drivers were cited for an expired/no motor vehicle inspection sticker, four drivers received a citation for a driver’s license violation, three drivers received a citation for having illegal window tint and one driver received a citation for a vehicle license violation. Two citations were issued for failure to use child restraints and one citation was issued for littering. One person was cited for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle parked on the shoulder. Troopers also seized thirteen license plates. Louisiana state law requires all vehicles registered in Louisiana have valid proof of insurance in the vehicle when traveling on public roadways. Troopers will continue to conduct random insurance checkpoints around the Troop A area in an effort to ensure compliance with mandatory insurance coverage laws and to increase public safety on Louisiana highways.For more information contact: Sgt.
