| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE State Troopers to Conduct Sobriety Checkpoint BATON ROUGE – Louisiana State Police Troop A will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint this weekend in Livingston Parish in conjunction with local authorities. Troopers have been aggressively patrolling the highways in an effort to keep impaired drivers from causing senseless destruction and grief, especially during the holiday season. One poor decision by an impaired person who decides to get behind the wheel and drive can lead to death and destruction for many. It is too easy to find an alternative to driving while impaired! State Troopers, along with local law enforcement officials, will be aggressively patrolling the entire Troop A area in an effort to keep impaired drivers off the roadways. Remember, Over the Limit, Under Arrest!! Louisiana State Troopers have worked very hard to ensure safe driving conditions for the public. There has been a significant increase in the number of DWI arrests made throughout the year compared to last year. There has also been a very significant increase in the number of seat belt and child restraint citations issued. A very positive point to this is that there has been a significant decrease in the number of fatal crashes, injury crashes, and crashes involving driver impairment over the same time-period.
