Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE Joint Effort Leads to Successful Sobriety Checkpoint BATON ROUGE – Louisiana State Police Troop A, in cooperation with Walker Police Department, Denham Springs Police Department, and the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s office, conducted a sobriety checkpoint on LA 447 south of US 190 in Walker. The checkpoint was a success despite the weather’s occasional attempts to interfere. Troopers, Deputies, and Officers screened over 500 vehicles over a 5-hour period, from 10:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m. Fourteen drivers submitted to the Standardized Field Sobriety Test at the checkpoint. Of the fourteen drivers, ten were arrested and charged with DWI. The checkpoint resulted in several citations as well.
