| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE Excessive Speed and Alcohol Suspected Factors in Fatal Crash BATON ROUGE – Shortly after 8:00 p.m., tonight on Interstate 10 in Ascension Parish, the driver and only occupant of a 1994 BMW was killed when his vehicle ran off the road and struck a tree in the median. Buddy Lindsey, Jr. (W/M, age 43) of California, was traveling east on I-10 between Highland Road and Prairieville when he lost control of the vehicle. The BMW began to rotate while still on the road, ran off the road to the left, and struck a tree with its passenger side. Lindsey was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Ascension Parish Coroner’s Office. Witnesses say that the vehicle was swerving in and out of traffic and traveling at a high rate of speed immediately before the crash occurred. Louisiana State Police is currently investigating the crash. Troopers suspect alcohol impairment and speed to be factors in this crash and have collected blood to be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis. Although the holiday season has ended, Louisiana State Troopers will continue to aggressively enforce the state’s DWI and seatbelt laws. Troopers are committed to ending the senseless tragedies caused by impaired drivers and the lack of seat belt use on our state’s highways. Contact Information: Tpr Russell G.
