Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE Baton Rouge Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash on Highland Road BATON ROUGE – On December 10, 2008 at 5:25 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash on Highland Road (LA 42) west of Perkins Road (LA 427). The vehicle, a 2003 Dodge pickup, was traveling east on LA 42 when it ran off the road to the left. It struck a curb and a culvert, began to rotate counter-clockwise, then struck a brick/concrete wall and overturned. The pickup came to rest against the brick wall and on the driver’s side. As there were no witnesses to the crash, Louisiana State Police is unable to determine the time the crash occurred. The driver and only occupant in the vehicle (B/M, age 24) was pronounced deceased on the scene by the East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office. His name is being withheld by State Police pending notification of next of kin. Alcohol use by the driver is unknown at this time. However, blood has been taken and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis. For more information contact: Tpr Russell G.
