Livingston Crash Claims Life of Unidentified Man after Vehicle Fire

BATON ROUGE – On Sunday, December 07, 2008 at 5:55 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single-vehicle crash on LA 63 north of LA 442 in Livingston Parish. The crash resulted in the death of the driver and only occupant in the vehicle. An unidentified male was driving a 2005 Dodge Pickup north on LA 63 when he entered a left hand curve and ran off the road to the right. The driver overcorrected, crossed LA 63, and ran off the road to the left. The vehicle traveled through the ditch, struck a tree, and caught fire. The driver was trapped inside the vehicle and was killed by the fire. Alcohol use by the driver is unknown at this time, but blood has been drawn and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis. Troopers are continuing the investigation into the crash and attempting to make a positive identification of the driver through medical records. Seatbelt use at the time of the crash is unknown.
