Denham Springs Man Critically Injured in Crash on LA 16

BATON ROUGE – On December 6, 2008 just before 6:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two-vehicle traffic collision on LA 16 north of LA 1033 in Livingston Parish. Colin Michael Campbell (W/M, age 20) of Denham Springs was driving a 2002 Isuzu Axiom north on LA 16 when he crossed the center-line and struck a 2003 Ford F550, which was traveling south on LA 16. Campbell was properly restrained at the time of the crash, but sustained life-threatening injuries. Acadian Ambulance Air-Med transported Campbell to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

James S. Eaves (W/M, age 43), also of Denham Springs, was driving the Ford F550 when the crash occurred. Eaves was properly restrained and was not injured in the crash. Eaves had two passengers in the vehicle with him at the time of the crash, a 15-year-old male and a 16-year-old male. The 15-year-old, riding in the center front seat, was properly restrained and sustained minor injuries. The 16-year-old, riding in the front right seat was properly restrained and was not injured. Alcohol is not suspected to have been a factor in this crash. However, blood was taken from Campbell and has been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis.
