TROOP A NEWS RELEASE October 11, 2017 Maurepas Man Dies after Three Vehicle Crash in Ascension Parish Gonzales – Shortly after 8:00 pm on October 10, 2017, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a three vehicle fatality crash that occurred on LA 429 east of US 61 in Ascension Parish. The crash took the life of 21 year old David Day of Maurepas. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Day was traveling eastbound on LA 429 in a 2013 Honda Civic. At the same time, 23 year old Kyle Cornett of Ragley was traveling westbound on LA 429 in a 2005 International. For reasons still under investigation, Day crossed the centerline into westbound lane and struck Cornett’s vehicle head-on. The impact caused Day’s vehicle to rotate as it continued moving east. Day’s vehicle was then struck a second time by a 2015 Subaru WRX driven by 27 year old Raymond Farr of Gonzales. Day was properly restrained but received fatal injuries as a result of the crash. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Ascension Parish Coroner’s Office. Cornett and Farr were both restrained and were not injured in the crash. It is unknown if impairment was a factor in the crash but a toxicology sample will be taken from all drivers for analysis. Contact Information: | |||
