| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE State Police, Troop A – News Release For Immediate Release Illegal Passing Results in Three Deaths February 23, 2008 At 11:30 PM, on February 22, 2008, Louisiana State Police, Troop A responded to a two vehicle crash that resulted in three deaths. The crash occurred on LA Hwy 70 west of LA Hwy 3125 in St. James Parish. A 2008 Chevrolet HHR was westbound on LA Hwy 70, while a 1991 Toyota Corolla was eastbound on LA Hwy 70. As the two vehicles traveled towards one another, the Chevrolet HHR crossed the center line into the path of the Toyota and the vehicles crashed head on. The occupants in both vehicles were killed in the collision. The driver of the Chevrolet HHR, Ricky Sharper (B/M/Age 50) of Gonzales, LA, the driver of the Toyota Corolla, Dennis Celestine (B/M/Age 36) of Sorrento, LA, and the passenger in the Corolla were pronounced dead at the scene by St. James Parish Coroner’s Office. Mr. Sharper was the only occupant wearing a seatbelt and alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in this crash. Information about the passenger in the Toyota Corolla will be released after troopers have notified relatives of the deceased. For more information contact: S/T Johnnie L.
