Medical Condition Possible Cause of Crash

February 29, 2008

At 3:39 PM, on Thursday, February 28, 2008, Louisiana State Police, Troop A was notified of a two vehicle crash. The crash occurred on LA Hwy 1 south of LA Hwy 995 in Iberville Parish.

A Lincoln Town Car traveled southbound on LA Hwy 1, while a 1998 Peterbuilt tractor-trailer traveled northbound on LA Hwy 1. The Lincoln Town Car crossed the center line into the northbound lane of travel and crashed into the rear axle of the 1998 Peterbuilt.

The driver of the Town Car, Lloyd J. Lotten (B/M/Age 77) of Donaldsonville, LA, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Iberville Parish Coroner’s Office. Troopers believe a medical emergency preceded the crash and caused Mr. Lotten to cross the center line. The driver of the Peterbuilt, Donald Jones (B/M/Age 35) of White Castle, LA, was not injured and did not receive medical attention at the scene. There are no charges and alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in this crash.
