Arnaudville Woman Succumbs to Injuries from St. Landry Parish Crash

St. Landry Parish – On May 1, 2022, shortly after 6:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop I was notified of a two-vehicle crash on US Highway 190 at Louisiana Highway 741 in St. Landry Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 72-year-old Elaine Artigue of Arnaudville.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed Artigue was traveling south on LA 741 in a 2017 Ford Taurus. At the same time, a 2016 Jeep Wrangler was traveling west on US 190. Artigue failed to yield as she entered into the intersection and Artigue’s Taurus was struck by the Jeep.

Artigue, who was properly restrained, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The other driver was properly restrained and no injuries were reported. Impairment was not suspected on the part of either driver.

On Friday, May 13, 2022, Troopers were notified by the St. Landry Parish Coroner’s Office that Artigue had died as a result of the crash.

Louisiana State Troopers remind motorists that making good choices while in motor vehicles such as always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, not driving impaired, and not being distracted behind the wheel can often mean the difference between life and death.

Troop I has investigated 11 fatal crashes resulting in 13 deaths in 2022.
