TROOP A NEWS RELEASE September 21, 2017 Clinton Man Dies in Two Vehicle Crash with Log Truck in East Feliciana Parish East Feliciana Parish – Shortly after 8:00 am on September 21, 2017, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a fatal two vehicle crash on LA 959 south of LA 63 in East Feliciana Parish. The crash resulted in the death of 62 year old Roy Tate of Clinton. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Tate was traveling southbound on LA 959 in a 2006 Toyota Tundra. At the same time, 48 year old Beldon Westmoreland of McComb, MS was traveling southbound on LA 959 in a 2014 Western Star 18-wheeler ahead of Tate. For reasons still under investigation, Tate failed to reduce his speed and struck the rear of Westmoreland’s vehicle. Tate was properly restrained but sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the East Feliciana Coroner’s Office. Westmoreland was also properly restrained at the time of the crash and was not injured. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash but a toxicology sample will be taken from both drivers for analysis. Contact Information: | |||
