| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE State Police, Troop A – News Release For Immediate Release No Seatbelt, Alcohol Suspected in One Vehicle Fatality February 22, 2008 At 2:36 AM, on Friday, February 22, 2008, Louisiana State Police, Troop A responded to a one vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a Paulina, LA resident. The crash occurred on LA Hwy 3125 south of LA Hwy 3214 in St. James Parish. A 1989 Dodge pickup truck was northbound on LA Hwy 3125 and ran off the roadway to the right. The pickup truck re-entered the roadway and began rotating to the left. While spinning, the Dodge pickup truck crossed both lanes of travel, struck a ditch, and rolled over ejecting the passenger. Both the driver and passenger were transported by Acadian Ambulance to the St. James Hospital. The passenger, Barry Washington (B/M/Age 51) of Paulina, LA, sustained serious injuries and was later pronounced dead by the St. James Hospital staff. The driver, Crandall A. Washington (B/M/Age 28) of Paulina, LA, sustained minor injuries and was later booked into the St. James Parish Jail for Careless Operation, Vehicular Homicide, Operating a Vehicle with a Suspended License, and Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated. The passenger was not wearing a seatbelt and alcohol is suspected to be factor in this crash. For more information contact: S/T Johnnie L.
