Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release December 28th, 2010 Franklinton Resident killed in Head-On Collision Franklinton – Today at 12:00 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a two vehicle fatality crash on LA 430 approximately 3 miles north of Franklinton in Washington Parish. Preliminary investigation revealed that the crash occurred as a 1996 Ford pickup truck, driven by Oconnor Manning (B/M age 55) of Franklinton, LA, was traveling northbound on LA 430. A 1988 Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by Willie Wilson (B/M age 78) of Franklinton, LA, was traveling southbound on LA 430. As the Ford truck proceeded north approaching the Chevrolet pickup, it crossed the centerline of the roadway and impacted the Chevrolet in a head-on collision. Wilson and front seat passenger, Arcell Causey (B/M age 81) of Franklinton, LA, were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Both occupants were transported to Riverside Medical Center where Wilson was pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Causey received serious injuries and remains in critical condition at this time. Manning was wearing his seatbelt and received moderate injuries from the crash. Upon release from Riverside Medical Center, he will be charged with one count each of Driving Left of Center, Operating a Vehicle with a Suspended License, Negligent Injury, and Negligent Homicide. Driver impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash with a blood sample from each driver pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
