Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release December 20th, 2010 Doctor Shopping Investigation leads to Arrest of Angie Resident Louisiana State Police Narcotic Detectives have charged an Angie woman with 12 counts of fraudulently obtaining a controlled dangerous substance following an investigation into alleged “Doctor Shopping”. Troopers’ investigation revealed that the Angie resident, identified as Autumn Dykes (W/F age 26), visited numerous medical offices seeking the same prescription from multiple physicians. Over a 10 month period, Dykes visited doctors and pharmacies throughout the Slidell, Bogalusa, and Franklinton areas where she received and filled multiple prescriptions. On December 15th, 2010, Dykes was arrested and booked into the Washington Parish Jail on 11 counts of “Doctor Shopping”. She was later transported to the St. Tammany Parish Jail on December 17th, 2010 where she was charged with one additional count of the same violation. LA Revised Statute 40:971B(1)(i), often referred to as “Doctor Shopping”, makes it illegal for individuals to obtain or seek to obtain any controlled dangerous substance or a prescription for a controlled dangerous substance from multiple health care practitioners without disclosing the existing prescription.
