Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release November 19th, 2010 Operation Child Watch leads to Arrest of Local Residents As a result of Operation Child Watch, an ongoing proactive enforcement campaign against online child exploitation, Louisiana State Police Region I Detectives have arrested two area men as a result of separate online investigations. The first investigation began in July of 2009, when investigators conducted a search warrant at the Slidell residence of Justin Dyer (W/M age 29) based on a complaint made by the German National Police. A forensic examination of a computer hard drive seized during the search revealed 140 files indicative of child pornography. As a result of the discovery, an arrest warrant was issued for Dyer on 140 counts of Possession of Pornography Involving Juveniles. On November 17th, 2010 agents with the US Marshalls Task Force located Dyer in Pearl River, LA and placed him into custody. Dyer was booked without incident into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on the above charges. The second arrest stemmed from a proactive child exploitation investigation conducted by Louisiana State Police Detectives from the Houma Field Office. As a result of the investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Brant Simon (W/M age 40) for Indecent Behavior with Juveniles (2 counts), Computer Aided Solicitation of a Minor (2 counts), and Attempted Production of Child Pornography. Simon was located at his residence in Ponchatoula, LA and booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail without incident. The Louisiana State Police is committed to investigating and arresting those who sexually exploit and victimize children. Through Operation Child Watch, Troopers will continue to work in cooperation with other agencies throughout the state and nation to actively pursue child predators and ensure the safety of our children.
