Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release March 23rd, 2011 Mock Fatality Crashes scheduled across Troop L Area Troop L- In the upcoming weeks, Troop L troopers along with various other emergency service professionals will participate in several mock fatality crashes involving an impaired driver. At each crash, student volunteers will act out a fatal crash scene scenario in front of their peers, allowing the student body to see first-hand how drinking and driving has far reaching consequences. Parents of the students will also be playing parts in this scenario. Intentionally scheduled prior to each school’s prom weekend, the mock crash is designed to emphasize the dangers and consequences of drinking and driving, the importance of seat belt use, and the emotional suffering families endure when a fatal crash occurs in reality. Numerous state and local agencies will be providing their expertise to ensure the safety of everyone involved. The agencies include: LSU Interim Public Hospital Level 1 Trauma Center, Louisiana State Police, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, Slidell Police Department, Amite Fire Department, St. Tammany Parish Fire Department, Acadian Ambulance, St. Tammany and Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office, A-1 Wrecker Service, Keith’s Wrecker Service, and Gaines Wrecker Service. Personnel from each agency will be available to answer questions at the conclusion of each event. The mock crashes are scheduled for the following dates: Friday, March 25th, 2011: 9:30 am at Archbishop Hannan High School, 71324 Hwy 1077, Covington, LA Monday, March 28th, 2011: 12:30pm at Oak Forest Academy, 600 Walnut Street, Amite, LA Friday, April 1st, 2011: 12:30pm at Pope John Paul II High School, 1901 Jaguar Drive, Slidell, LA Friday, April 15th, 2011: 9:40am at Fontainebleau High School, 100 Bulldog Drive, Mandeville, LA **All media outlets are invited to attend these events. **
