Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: March 8, 2011 Tangipahoa Parish Crash Claims One Life Troop L: On Monday, March 7, 2011, shortly after 8:30 PM, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a fatal crash on LA 1064 at mile post 0.4 in Tangipahoa Parish. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 Ford Mustang, driven by Jared Huguet (W/M, age 27) of Hammond, LA, was traveling south on LA 1064 in a left curve and lost control of the vehicle. The Mustang rotated counter-clockwise and entered the northbound lane of LA 1064. A 1999 Honda Accord, driven by Derric Hart (B/M, age 29) of Marrero, LA, was traveling north on LA 1064 and struck the Mustang in the northbound lane. Huguet was pronounced dead on the scene. Hart and his passenger, Brandi Johnson (B/F, age 25), were transported to North Oaks Medical Center with moderate injuries. Huguet was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and toxicology results are pending an autopsy. The crash is still under investigation. Contact Information: | |||
