Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release May 23rd, 2010 Covington Resident killed in Hammond Crash Hammond – This morning at 04:00 am, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a one vehicle fatality crash on LA 3234 (Wardline Road) west of Interstate 55 at milepost #1.8 in Tangipahoa Parish. A 2004 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Megan B. Manton (W/F age 18) of Covington, LA, was traveling west on LA 3234. For unknown reasons, the Cherokee ran off road to the left and impacted a light pole with its left front corner. Manton was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office. Alcohol use is suspected with a blood test pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
