FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE At 4:34 PM, on Sunday, January 6, 2008, State Police, Troop A began investigating a one vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality. The crash occurred on LA Hwy 78 west of LA Hwy 1 in Pointe Coupee Parish. A 2005 Honda motorcycle was westbound on LA Hwy 78 and failed to negotiate a right hand curve. The Honda crossed into the eastbound lane and ran off the left side of the roadway. After leaving the roadway, the motorcycle traveled through the ditch and struck a tree. The driver was identified as Joseph Lester Guidry (W/M/Age 33) of Krotz Springs, LA. Mr. Guidry was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pointe Coupee Parish Coroners Office. Mr. Guidry was wearing a helmet and alcohol is not suspected. Contact Trooper Johnnie Brown if there are any questions.
