Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release May 22nd, 2010 Early Morning Crash takes Life of Amite Resident Hammond – Today at 02:20 am, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a one vehicle fatality crash on Interstate 55 north of University Avenue at milepost #33 in Tangipahoa Parish. The crash occurred as Tasha Perry, (B/F age 34) of Amite, LA, was traveling north on Interstate 55 in a 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe. For unknown reasons, the Tahoe ran off road to the right and began to rotate in a clockwise manner. As it rotated, the Tahoe overturned and rolled several times ejecting the driver and front seat occupant. Neither Perry nor the front seat passenger, Courtney McClain (B/M age 31) of Independence, LA, were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Both occupants were transported to North Oaks Hospital where Perry was pronounced dead. McClain received only moderate injuries. Alcohol use is not suspected at this time with a blood sample from Perry submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
