Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release May 10th, 2010 Alcohol Use suspected in One Vehicle Fatality Tangipahoa Parish – Yesterday at 06:20 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a one vehicle fatality crash on LA 445 north of LA 40 at milepost #20 in Tangipahoa Parish. The crash occurred as Isidro Sandoval, (H/M age 34) of Covington, LA, was traveling north on LA 445 in a 1997 Ford pickup truck. While traveling northbound, Sandoval failed to maneuver a left curve and ran off road to the right. Upon leaving the paved roadway, the Ford pickup rotated in a counterclockwise manner and overturned coming to rest in the tree line to the right side of LA 445. Sandoval was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was transported to Northoaks Medical Center with moderate injuries. Alcohol use is suspected with a blood test pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Upon release from Northoaks Hospital, Sandoval will be booked at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail charged with Careless Operation, Driving without a License, DWI 1st, and Vehicular Homicide. Passenger in the Ford pickup truck, Juan Sandoval (H/M age 22) of Covington, LA, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office.
