In a continuing effort to combat the growing problem of prescription medication fraud, Louisiana State Police Narcotic Detectives have charged a Madisonville woman with Forgery and attempting to acquire a controlled dangerous substance by fraud.

The investigation began in March when LSP Narcotic Detectives were contacted by the Kmart Pharmacy in Mandeville. The pharmacist advised detectives that a customer, identified as Elizabeth Weems (W/F age 43), had attempted to have a forged prescription filled at the pharmacy. After further investigation, a warrant was obtained for Weems and she was arrested without incident at her residence in Madisonville. Weems was booked at the St. Tammany Parish Jail on the above charges.
