Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release May 5th, 2010 Slidell Resident killed in Early Morning Crash Hammond – Today at 6:30 am, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a one vehicle fatality crash on LA 3234 (Wardline Road) east of Interstate 55 in Tangipahoa Parish. A 2002 Toyota pickup truck, driven Randy P. Higgins (W/M age 21) of Slidell, LA, was traveling west on LA 3234 when it ran off road to the right. Higgins then over-corrected to the left causing the Toyota pickup to cross all five lanes of LA 3234 and impact a tree stump on the south side of the roadway. After impact, the Toyota pickup rolled onto its right side and struck a tree with its roof before coming to rest upright on its wheels. Higgins, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office. Alcohol use is unknown at this time with a toxicology test pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
