Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release October 19th, 2010 Gulfport Man killed by Distracted Driver in Slidell Crash Slidell – This afternoon at 1:20 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a one vehicle fatality crash on LA 1090/Robert Road approximately one mile north of Brownswitch Road in St. Tammany Parish. The crash occurred as Narada Dasa, (W/M age 31) of Picayune, MS, was traveling north on LA 1090 in a 2001 Toyota Tundra. Upon proceeding northbound on LA 1090, Dasa became distracted with the vehicle radio and failed to maneuver a left curve in the roadway. As the Tundra began to run off road to the right, Dasa veered to the left causing the pickup to cross the centerline of the roadway. Upon entering the oncoming lanes of travel, Dasa overcorrected back to the right forcing the Tundra to run off road on the west side of LA 1090. As the Toyota Tundra left the roadway, it impacted a large pine tree on its left front fender. Neither Dasa nor his two passengers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Passenger one in the Tundra, Chris Stravinsky (W/M age 30) of Gulfport, MS, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office. Passenger two, Jonathan Davis (W/M age 33) of New Orleans, LA, received moderate injuries and was transported to the Louisiana Medical Center and Heart Hospital. Upon impact, Dasa was partially ejected from the vehicle and was transported to Slidell Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries. Alcohol use is not suspected with a blood sample pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Upon release from the hospital, Dasa will be charged and booked with Careless Operation, Negligent Injury, and Negligent Homicide.
