Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release July 31st, 2010 Head-On Collision takes Two Lives in St. Helena Parish St. Helena Parish – Yesterday at 07:30 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a two vehicle fatality crash on LA 16 west of LA 63 at milepost #42 in St. Helena Parish. A 1997 Dodge pickup truck, driven by Michael J. Montgomery (W/M age 38) of Pine Grove, LA, was traveling westbound on LA 16. A 2008 Chrysler 300, driven by Glenda W. Munizza (W/F age 53) of Bogalusa, LA, was eastbound on LA 16. As the Dodge pickup continued west on LA 16, it crossed the centerline of the roadway attempting to pass a vehicle when it impacted the Chrysler in a head-on collision. Both Montgomery and Munizza were pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Helena Parish Coroner’s Office due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol use is unknown at this time, with a blood sample from both drivers pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
