| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release April 25th, 2011 Narcotic Agents seize Drug Shipment enroute to Bogalusa Bogalusa, LA– A multi-agency investigation, including agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Bogalusa Police Department, and Louisiana State Police Narcotic Detectives, has resulted in the arrest of a Bogalusa woman for Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance. The investigation began when ICE agents intercepted a package from China containing Sibutramine, a FDA banned weight loss drug linked to cardiovascular deaths across the country. The package was en route to be delivered to Cynthia Martin (W/F age 32) of Bogalusa, LA. After a controlled delivery of the banned drug was conducted to Martin at the Bogalusa address, investigators executed a search warrant for the residence. The search resulted in the discovery of additional Sibutramine and evidence of previous international shipments that are suspected to have been sold throughout the Bogalusa community. Martin was placed under arrest and booked into the Washington Parish Jail on the above charge.
