Troopers Searching for Suspect Vehicle
in Fatal Hit and Run Crash

Kentwood, LA – Following an overnight hit and run crash, 44 year old Kentwood resident Joy Addison was pronounced dead earlier today at a Jackson, MS hospital. The crash occurred shortly after midnight on LA 1049 approximately 2.5 miles south of Kentwood in Tangipahoa Parish.

Troopers’ preliminary investigation revealed that Addison was traveling south on LA 1049 in a 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora when her vehicle stalled and came to a stop in the southbound lane of travel. Addison exited the vehicle and attempted to flag down traffic while standing in the northbound lane of LA 1049. As Addison stood in the roadway, an unknown southbound vehicle attempted to pass the stalled Oldsmobile, proceeding south in the northbound lane striking Addison with its left front bumper.

Addison was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson where she later succumbed to her injuries. Alcohol and/or drug impairment is unknown at this time with toxicology results pending at the Hinds County Coroner’s Office in MS.

Troopers are actively searching for the hit and run vehicle believed to be a white BMW with significant damage to its left front bumper and left front quarter panel.

Anyone with information regarding the crash or the white BMW is urged to contact Troop L at 985-893-6250.
