Troop L Traffic Advisory and Road Closures

As of 12:00 pm today, the center of Hurricane Isaac was located about 45 miles south-southwest of New Orleans, with maximum sustained winds near 75 mph. Isaac is expected to weaken to a tropical storm later today and is moving toward the northwest at approximately 6 mph. The center of Isaac will move farther inland over Louisiana on Wednesday and Thursday continuing into southern Arkansas by early Friday.

Citizens should maintain their preparedness action plan until severe weather warnings are discontinued from our area. Motorists are urged to refrain from unnecessary travel and be watchful for fallen trees and debris on area roadways.

Due to high water and/or dangerous conditions, the following roads are closed at this time:
    · The Causeway Bridge over Lake Pontchartrain
    · LA Hwy 21 at LA Hwy 1082
    · LA Hwy 22 through the Town of Madisonville
    · LA Hwy 433 between Interstate 10 and U.S. Hwy 90
    · The U.S. Hwy 11 Bridge over Lake Pontchartrain linking Slidell to New Orleans East
    · U.S. Hwy 190 between U.S. Hwy 190 Business and U.S. Hwy 90

Road closure signs and barricades have been posted at all locations and citizens are urged to avoid the area if possible. Troop L will continue to monitor the roadways for changing conditions.

All citizens are reminded to monitor the National Weather Service, local radio and television stations, or visit
