Troop L Traffic Advisory and Road Closures

As the entire Northshore region experiences the lingering effects of Hurricane Isaac, floodwaters from Lake Pontchartrain and numerous area rivers continue to obstruct roadways creating potentially dangerous conditions.

Citizens should maintain their preparedness action plan until severe weather warnings are discontinued from our area. Motorists are urged to refrain from unnecessary travel and be watchful for fallen trees and debris on area roadways.

Due to high water and/or dangerous conditions, the following roads are closed at this time:
    · Interstate 55 is closed in both directions from Interstate 10 in Laplace to the U.S. Hwy 51 Business exit in Ponchatoula
    · The Interstate 10 eastbound and westbound off ramps to Oak Harbor Blvd. in Slidell
    · The right and center lane of Interstate 10 eastbound at the foot of the Twin Span Bridge in Orleans Parish
    · The Causeway Bridge over Lake Pontchartrain
    · U.S. Hwy 51 from Manchac to Ponchatoula
    · LA Hwy 434 north of Interstate 12 at intersection of Bordish Road.
    · LA Hwy 441 south of LA Hwy 38
    · LA Hwy 21 at LA Hwy 1082
    · LA Hwy 22 through the Town of Madisonville
    · LA Hwy 433 between Interstate 10 and U.S. Hwy 90
    · The U.S. Hwy 11 Bridge over Lake Pontchartrain linking Slidell to New Orleans East
    · U.S. Hwy 190 between U.S. Hwy 190 Business and U.S. Hwy 90

Road closure signs and barricades have been posted at all locations and citizens are urged to avoid the area if possible. Troop L will continue to monitor the roadways for changing conditions.

All citizens are reminded to monitor the National Weather Service, local radio and television stations, or visit

In addition, Troopers are posting regular weather, road conditions, and LSP activities on the LSP Facebook page.
