TROOP L - NEWS RELEASE June 16, 2012 Young Lady Killed in I-12 Crash Slidell – Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a multiple-vehicle fatal crash last night that claimed the life of a Texas teen. The crash occurred on Interstate 12 eastbound at exit 80 shortly after 6:00 pm. Troopers’ initial investigation revealed that Kevin Greenwood (W/M, age 44) of Ormond Beach, FL was driving a Dodge pickup east on Interstate 12 at exit 80 in Slidell as he approached traffic moving slowly ahead of him due to congestion. Greenwood failed to slow down and struck the rear of a small Mazda, being driven by Kristen Stoltman (W/F, age 19) of Woodlands, TX. The Mazda was pushed off the right side of the roadway onto the shoulder southeast of the point of impact. Stoltman was killed on impact and was pronounced deceased on the scene by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office. Her passenger, Jesse Stoltman (W/M, age 20), of Magnolia, TX, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The Dodge pickup then continued east on I-12 and struck the rear of a 2006 Freightliner, causing no major damage. Troopers arrested Greenwood and transported him to the Slidell Police Department, where he submitted a breath sample for Troopers. The breath sample showed that Greenwood had alcohol in his system, but not over the legal limit. Troopers charged him with careless operation, negligent homicide, and negligent injuring and booked him into the St. Tammany Parish Jail. Troopers strongly urge motorists to use caution and take all extra precautions to ensure their safety on the roadways. Making good decisions before and while driving can mean the difference between life and death.
