| TROOP L NEWS RELEASE June 27th, 2012 **UPDATE** Investigating Troopers were notified earlier today that the driver of the 2011 Buick LaCrosse was positively identified by the St. Helena Parish Coroner’s Office. The driver has been identified as 47 year old Christie Adams of Tylertown, MS. The events of the crash are still under investigation. Troopers Working to Identify Victim in St. Helena Fatal Crash St. Helena Parish, LA – This morning, June 23rd, 2012, at 02:45 am, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a fatal crash on LA 37 approximately 1 mile north of LA 63. The single vehicle crash took the life of the currently unidentified white female driver. Troopers’ investigation revealed that the crash occurred as a 2011 Buick LaCrosse was traveling south on LA 37 when, for unknown reasons, it traveled off the roadway to the left. As the Buick left the paved roadway, it struck several trees prior to coming to rest on the east side of the highway. The white female driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Helena Parish Coroner’s Office. The driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and alcohol use is unknown pending the results of a toxicology exam. Troopers are continuing their investigation into the events of the crash and efforts to identify the driver are ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the crash or the identity of the white female victim is urged to contact Troop L at 985-893-6250. While the cause of the crash remains under investigation, troopers urge the public to remain vigilant while driving, never drive while fatigued or impaired, and avoid distracting activities, especially the temptations of electronic devices that can substantially divert a driver’s attention away from the road. While not all crashes are survivable, seat belts can greatly decrease the occupant’s chance of death and may greatly reduce the extent of injury. Motor vehicle crashes are unexpected events, however, by taking precautionary steps including always wearing a seatbelt and never driving while impaired or distracted, motorists can substantially reduce their risk of being involved and/or injured in a crash.
