Troopers’ Work result in Narcotics Seizures and Arrests

Proactive patrol and investigative efforts by Louisiana State Police Troopers led to the arrests of two men and the seizure of dangerous narcotics in separate cases in Washington and St. Tammany Parish this past week.

The first arrest took place on the morning of Thursday, August 4th, when troopers executed a search warrant at the Franklinton residence of George R. Jenkins (W/M age 52). The arrest stemmed from information that troopers obtained indicating the location of an outdoor Marijuana cultivation site in Washington Parish. Troopers’ investigation revealed that the cultivation site was being operated and maintained by Jenkins. During the execution of the search warrant, troopers discovered nine live Marijuana plants and placed Jenkins under arrest. He was booked without incident at the Washington Parish Jail charged with the Manufacture and Cultivation of Marijuana.

The second arrest occurred later that same day at approximately 4:45 pm, when Michael D. Crowell, (W/M age 59 ) of Gordo, AL, was arrested on narcotics charges following a traffic stop. The investigation began when troopers observed Crowell commit a traffic violation while traveling on the Interstate 10 East Service Road in his 1993 Chevrolet pickup truck. During the stop, Crowell consented to the search of his vehicle leading to the discover of 5,621 dosage units of Synthetic Marijuana (approximately 7,265 grams). Crowell was subsequently placed under arrest and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance.
